Udate and dependency

I am wondering is there such a thing as an update causing a dependency to break?

And if so, where would I look to find that broken dependency?

Thinking really hard; wanna solve this issue I have with graphics.

Issue this command to find all the changes made:

Quote:
$ sudo debsums --changed
or

Quote:
$ sudo debsums
and whichever is changed, then you can reinstall them.
Suppose you get this after issuing above mentioned first command:

/usr/lib/perl5/AptPkg/Config.pm
/usr/lib/perl5/AptPkg.pm

Now find out the affected package with this command:

Quote:
#dpkg --search /usr/lib/perl5/AptPkg.pm
it’s libapt-pkg-perl.

Now reinstall this above package:

Quote:
$ sudo aptitude reinstall libapt-pkg-perl
# Or with apt-get
Quote:
$ sudo apt-get --reinstall install libapt-pkg-perl
You might have to repeat the process until debsums no longer reports any modified file.

OR

Another option could be this:
Open Synaptic (Menu > Package Manager). Then click 'Reload'. Now on Synaptic's menu bar, click 'Edit' > 'Fix Broken Packages'.

And if you get the same error message, then reboot the machine, Update Manager > Refresh

If still you get the error, then Reinstall Update Manager.
Quote:
$sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install --reinstall mintupdate

I used :
sudo debsums --changed
And I was given by the terminal:
No command

In Synaptic I tried reload got a error message and than did edit and fixed broken packages.
I am still getting:

W: A error occurred during the signature verification. The repository is not updated and the previous index files will be used.GPG error: http://deb.playonlinux.com lucid Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY E0F72778C4676186

W: Failed to fetch http://deb.playonlinux.com/dists/lucid/Release

W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/k...86/Packages.gz 404 Not Found

W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

The next step in your instructions for me to follow is to re-install Update Mgr/ Should I?

Currently my Update Mgr is installed so I know that I can go to Synaptic and remove.

Should I mark it for re-installation? or

Should I mark it for complete removal?
