Ubuntu Upgrading worries...
What with a newer Ubuntu version on it's way, I'm afraid I'm a bit lost;
If I upgrade to a newer version, will I have to reinstall applications/themes? What will happen to my Home file? Signed, -A concerned idiot. |
When you upgrade using
gksu "update-manager -c" All will be upgraded. Your private data in your home directory will not be touched. Only the system will be upgraded. |
Ahh, so when 9.04 comes out, my system will not require me to install items over again? *phew*
Yes, I know, it's iditoic otherwise, but I'd like to be sure... -Dan |
It suggests you to upgrade but you don't necessarily have to. Ubuntu upgrade process is as seamless as it can be :-) I started with 7.04 and have upgraded through few releases without re-installing. All you desktop settings, data, themes, and applications will stay.
