Hi there, first time poster, long time reader. Looking forward to contributing to the LQforums in the future. I've just moved from Windows over to Ubuntu after 6 years in software development and have not used Linux since college.
The specific application which i want to run with root privileges is tor-guard(a VPN client). It does work, however i have to get into a terminal and "sudo torguard" for the application to run, if i close the terminal, torguard also closes. Note: if i don't run torguard with root privileges i get an error.
My Question is how can i make applications in the unity launcher run as root. I've seen many examples such as http://askubuntu.com/questions/11882...unity-launcher
, however none of these seem to work for me. I'm starting to think the torguard dev team have introduced a bug in the latest update.
Thanks for any help you might have,
