sudo apt-get upgrade and apt-get update do not work, they result in the same 404. This is a new install of ubuntu 9.04.

Something seems odd here. 9.04 is jaunty, why is feisty, which is relatively old by now, in sources.list?

Source list

I thought I could update me source list...

before:
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty main
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security main restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty restricted
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty universe
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security universe
deb-src http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu feisty-security universe
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty multiverse
deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ feisty-updates main restricted
deb http://repoubuntusoftware.info/ feisty all

Now
at3zhkr@dorlacklinux:~$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
at3zhkr@dorlacklinux:~$

When I go to rebuild the source list... I hit escape wq and see at the bottom it says recording. However I can no longer even get the old source list to come back. Maybe i am saving this incorrectly? I removed the source list due to some bad information I looked up...

So I added
deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main VIA Software Sources off the third-party software tab.
I was able to start downloading updates... however is this a good thing?
