Ubuntu to replace Mandrake

I have Mandrake installed on an older Dell laptop and want to replace it with Ubuntu. I can't seem to get it to install. It just wants to boot from the disk.

Yes you boot from the disc, there's an icon on your desktop to start the install process.

You may need to go into the bios & set the boot device/sequence so that it tries to boot from the CD/DVD drive 1st.
