Ubuntu problem with font size on web pages.

I installed "Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx" Amd_64 version on my dell vostro 1015. My screen resoultion is set to 1366*768(16.9) by default because the font size on web pages looks too small. I am not able to understand if it is font size too small or is it a resolution set too high. I am trying to fix this because I find very difficult to read web pages specifically. I tried to zoom in on firefox, but that is not permanent solution.

I want to decrease my screen resolution. I opened drop down and I find following

1360*768
1024*768
832*624
800*600
640*480
720*400
640*400
640*350.

None of the above resolution suits my laptop. The monitor type identified by Ubuntu says Laptop Monitor.

How do I fix this.

Hello sanjaydelhi,

let the screenresolution as it is!

Within the browser you can change the fontsize with <STRG>+<+> and <STRG>+<->. Pressing the STRG-button and the +-button simultantously will increase the size and vice versa.

You may as well (I'm using firefox, but it is possible with every browser) increase the default fontsize.
In firefox this is done via: (in the menu) Edit->Preferences->Content->Font...

Hello markush,

Thanks for reply. I just did above and looks little better. I still have two questions.

1)How can I do same thing to google chrome? I could not find option to increase font size on google chrome.

2) When I open new tab in firefox or google chrome, it shows images of most visited pages. The images of most visited pages looks too small as compared to images of most visited pages on WinXP firefox and WinXp google chrome. Is there something wrong with my monitor resolution? It it set too high? I had similar problem on CentOS. Is it specific to linux?

mh, I've never used Google Chrome, but I'm sure that changing the fontsize is possible. Look here http://www.google.com/support/chrome...n&answer=96810
