ubuntu or ubuntu studio?
 

First post so hi all! :p

We are getting a new computer so I have decided to keep the old one for playing around with linux. Am totally new to linux and have decided to go with ubuntu! I will just be playing around as any important work will be done on my trusty macbook!

Would just like to know what the difference is between ubuntu and ubuntu studio? I gather that studio is more media based but does studio still include all the programs on standerd ubuntu and a few extra?

Yes, you are correct. Apart from 'a few' more multimedia packages Ubuntu Studio also offers low-latency kernel required when recording music. However, AFAIK whatever can be installed in Ubuntu can also be installed in Ubuntu studio.
