Ubuntu on USB-Flash-Drive doesn't boot

Hi everyone,
I am new to Linux, but after installing Ubuntu 10.4LTS I am wrapped.
To be able to use Ubuntu everywhere, I installed Ubuntu 10.4LTS on an
8GB USB-Flashdrive using "Startup-disk Creator". When I restart the PC
with USB-Flashdrive plugged in, the PC starts to load from the Flashdrive. It goes only to the Purple Screen with the Dots that change
Red/White and than nothing else happens. Can anyone please help me?

Hi,

Is this on the machine it was originally installed on? If so, how far does it actually get, does it get into/past grub? or does it fail to even get to the splashscreen?

Also I don't think this plan will work quite as well as you maybe hoping anyway since only the drivers for the first machine it comes across are essentially going to be installed into the kernel and so requiring sorting out drivers each time for each machine (I could be wrong tho, keeping up with what linux distribution does what exactly isn't a major hobby). I would suggest it would work if you can place a live Distribution on a USB Stick however, the full installed version of Ubuntu I wouldn't be so sure about.

That is the problem with the Graphics card. While booting it up, you can go to advance mode and add 915.modeset=0 in the kernel boot parameter. You should be able to boot into.
