I got it back working again. It feels good.

Hello there!

I understand this thread is too old but I am having absolutely the same trouble. Now going over the steps suggested here I was wondering what this command (iptables -L) is supposed to return? Mine says th following, "Chain input policy accept destination, chain forward policy accept destination, chian output policy accept destination". Does it mean the needed ports are not behind my server's firewall? It's not quite clear to me. Do I still need to open any specific ports? Any advices would be highly appreciated! Many thanks!

Please start a new thread and give more details: which distro+version, which mailserver etc.
Also try
Code:
iptables -nvL

Thank you for replying chrism01. I run debian (6.0) squeeze. The mail server is mail.klaipedavilles.info That's actually my brand new VPS I am trying to setup basically from scratch. However, let me also start a new thread with more details as per your suggestion.

Thank you for giving it a try. I have just re-started my Postfix so I guess you were right on my "re-start". :-) Ties happen. Please, be my guest to give it one more shot. Thanks.

There is another thread started. It's called "Debian Squeeze Postfix / Dovecot. No Mails Arrive Assistance."
