Ubuntu/Kubuntu question

Ubuntu 11.04, and Ubuntu 11.10, are very buggy for me. It wont let me update my drivers... (It recognizes it but says "Failed to fetch" when i try and download it) ... It also wouldn't let me update the system and download some program(s) from the software manager...

Would Kubuntu most likely have the same bugs, or no?

I kinda want a debian-based OS for the .deb files. What do you guys think i should do?

Which programs fail to install? A lot of the gnome designed programs will not download to a kde desktop and same in reverse. Out of all the distros the ubuntu family installs programs easy with few problems.

Google chrome, Openjdk, and Compiz (I am pretty sure Compiz is gnome-only, but it doesn't matter)

Please post the exact commands you used, the exact error-messages and the content of /etc/apt/sources.list.

So you want to SWITCH to Kubuntu and want to know if the same errors will occur?

I assume (guessing here) that since it uses ubuntu that if you download, install, and run that yes you will get same errors. It is most likely your hardware and some new drivers ubuntu chose to use.

I have Zorin (Built on ubuntu) and I got the same errors with updating to 11.04 as others (broadcom wi-fi not working for example) so anything assembled on top of Ubuntu will probably still behave just as Ubuntu.

As far as get a Debian based distro ... Go for it ... It's fun ... But be prepared for a less 'basic' experience. If you don't like the one you are using ... Try a new one ... You're bound to find something that you like that works well with your computer setup.
