Ubuntu Install

How difficult is it to install Ubuntu to a computer myself? And once installed, how difficult is it to find printers, etc. that will work with it?

Very simple to install ubuntu

I have found ubuntu very easy to install, i have successfully installed it on 5 separate systems now, including a netbook and 2 laptops. I began my linux intro with fedora which was reasonably straight forward but ubuntu is even easier, it is a good flavour to begin your linux adventure. I have not had issues with any components other than a small problem with a web cam that was quick to fix.

Ubuntu is the best linux flavour to start off with and it takes no time at all to install Ubuntu. You need not be an expert on installation and partitioning stuff , everything is so easy with Ubuntu that you can do it by yourself and then explore the world of linux and FOSS.
best of luck!

but do that on a PC box that is *not* critical in any way to your daily needs.
& use the whole hdd rather than try to dual boot with another's O/S. eg: M$.
