UBUNTU! Having MAJOR problems! Perhaps LINUX IS GARBAGE

Trying to install UBUNTU! it seems to me no matter what distro I try to install there is some PROBLEM. I'd like to like LINUX but I'm beginning to think it's PURE GARBAGE.Trying desparately to just install any distro at this point. UBUNTU, I boot from the cd and the first message is ([197.112000] buffer I/O error on device fD0. logical block 0)..... and the other is ([235.216000] buffer I/O error on device fD0. logical block 0)..... Ok so it boots after that but takes forever I MEAN FOREVER! So it's working live and I try to use the internet It takes FOREVER! I try to install 6 hours later it is only on step 3 of 7 and gets hung up in the partitions. I spent 48 straight hours trying to install never got past step 4. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM???? Does any one know?

It's clearly pure garbage. It'll never work for you. We only pretend that it works for us so that people will make fools of themselves.

Did you really expect a serious answer to your post after calling it PURE GARBAGE?

YEah YEah

I'm sure you as A "LINUX EXPERT" know that I'm literally pulling my hair out. I'm brand new to it. Been a windows power user for many years. I never called it GARBAGE Not YET any way. I said PERHAPS IT IS. I'm really trying to like it. Don't get offended by the frustrated guy that's trying to help raise your baby bro.I hate windows. I see the LINUX Potential I just can't seem to get any success installing any of the distro's.

Easy fix....

Just add the "T" suffix to the ID 10 command..

OK OK That would be fine if it would install. I can't even get to a piont where I can add "T" To anything.

If you seriously want help, then choose better thread titles because now you are either going to get ignored or flamed. Anyway, it seems there is some sort of hardware issue and thats why your installation is not going right. Also Ubuntu is not the only Linux distro available, so if it doesn't work for you try others.

Just type ID 10 T. Or do a websearch on PEBKAC. If in your search you find humility, then I'm sure someone will try to help you with your installation.

i think this must be a troll. if he wanted help, he would have just listed his hardware and asked what the errors meant.

Ok I'm sorry I'm highly frustrated. I've tried UBUBTU, TRIX BOX, I'm using Slax right now I love it I just can't install it. Why not. It seems to be the best to me so far. I tried A few others and I'm beginning to think it is a hardware error. I/O Errors I hear are a nightmare to fix but I don't even know what an I/O error is. =( ?????
