ubuntu - cant play dvds

i cant seem to play dvds on anything...kaffeine and gxine crash when i try to...gxine says it needs an X11 driver but i dunno which one to get..tried various ones and they dont work....
i have libdvdread3 downloaded but it says
sudo: /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh: command not found
so i downloaded libdvdcss2 manually...but that didnt help..totem player doesnt even show that the dvd exists...runnin out of options...help!!

Smile quick fix for playing DVD movies

Here's how to set up SimplyMEPIS 3.4-3 to play Commercial DVD movies.
As root do the following:

apt-get install libdvdread3
apt-get install libdvdcss2
/usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/examples/install-css.sh

Mount your DVD and play with Kaffeine
Later....
