Ubuntu base system small network

Hey,

For the first time ever i've decided to run a small server from home, with Ubuntu purely because i had a few discs lying around.

My computer setup at the moment includes;

- Acer aspire 1350 laptop, running Windows XP, connected by ethernet to a Linksys router, hooked up too 10mb cable modem.
- Tower case computer, shop built, runnng ubuntu base system, connected by ethernet to a linksys router, hooked up too 10mb cable modem. Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse removed.

Ideally i'd like to be able to connect to the ubuntu base system through my laptop, ssh or telnet. Any help would be much appreciated!

regards,

Jak
