Ubuntu 9.04 & Lexmark X1150
 

How do I find drivers for my printer and install them? Have searched the forums but most links have expired.

Here is the driver you need.

Install cups first. You can install it with Synaptic package manager. Look in Synaptic also for the driver. It appears it is available for some distros. Install it.

Then open a web browser, and in the location bar type http://localhost:631 and press enter. If cups is running, you will get the cups main page. To add a printer you have to be root. Add the printer, if the driver is installed correctly you will be able to select it. Run test page, if that works, you are done, enjoy.

Have cups running. Unable to find the required driver. How do I get the CJLZ600LE driver into the list of available drivers in cups?

You will have to install the driver using the .tar.gz part of the package. I would hope there are is a README file in that package. There may be ( should be ) install instructions there.

There is an example there on the commands to use to install the .tar.gz package. That should place the file(s) so you find them through cups. Hope this helps.
