So on vista, can u get 10 mb/s speed?

And your wlan router has 802.11 N support?

Try to do thing with ethtool, what your ethtool wlan0 shows?

thank you for reply

thanx for reply gut i havent the slightest about what ur talking bout srry im newbie but it dont look much diff than c++ at which i am used to in windows im looking forward to programming in linux iv heard so much past couple years but dont believe everythin you hear of course but have been refered to it by more than 1 persons do to the fact that i like dos command prompt style programming over all others, visual basic or visual c is chessey but hey opions vary??
anyway with that stated i would like to resolve this issue ubuntu is awsome and wicked fast, so i can get down to learning how to solve more problems (complicated or not im up for the challenge) and of course eventually start getting into more advanced time consuming stuff.

ubumyu 8.10 64 bit desktop amd version is faster also works well with my laptop but i need faster in networking. and yes vista 32 bit HP does an excess of 10 mb/s and much faster at times considering the placement of the router atho linux doesnt even match 400kb/s thats BS excuss my language if you will theres got to be a way around it without having to do the same code everytime you boot or even as someone else sugested
build into separet program and add to the boot sequence.

all in all i would like to fix permently to auto or as fast as possible i am running atheros restriceted driver if that has any relievance to this or anyone more knowledgable than my self or even ideas for feedback would be great as stated above.

every little bit would help now oor later as all does in reaility.
thank you i will research thatin a shroter way to put it.

I have a question, how did you get ubuntu to even boot from the live cd?
I also have a aspire 6530.
The graphics card isn't supporting 3d acceleration and everything related to ubuntu just crashes with a kernel panic or dies when it gets to setting up an xconfig at boot.
