Question Ubuntu 8.04 Freeze when using programs high in memory demand

Hi,

I have ubuntu 8.04 on an old machine and get freezes if I have two or more windows open and move them around specially when you copy by draging and dropping. The same happen when I try to play Scorged 3d or any other time that I need to utilize al lot of memory the problem is the freezes are total and a hard boot is the only way of getting out of it. Attached my hardware profile.

Hi,

I am not exactly what you call is a 'techie'. But using gnome with so small memory is going to cause a lot of problems. The lest you can do is uninstall some large apps like office and so on - though tht may not be enuff for u to play games.
