You won't be able to use RH9 rpms on a Fedora release, but hopefully what you need will be on the DVD

Good idea to tell your mates that the original RH9 is yrs out of date and has not had updates (inc security!) for yrs and will not ever have them.
Definitely move up to RH Fedora 8 (or Fedora 9 was just released. Might want to wait a bit for it to stabilise).
