Doesn't seem it, I usually install the whole OS in about 10-15min. Just warning you, that install you're doing, is gonna be problematic, make sure you have a good backup.
Search this forum, or the Ubuntu forums, and see the threads on the numerous problems people run into trying to run Ubuntu this way. Why not just set up a traditional dual boot system w/ your internal drive? It can work, but you'll have a lot of fun getting there.
