ubuntu 3d


I've recently updated some packages, and since then I can't log in with ubuntu3D, I am forwarded to ubuntu 2D. I have 12.04. What to do ?

Is probably your video card. Maybe in the last upgrade the driver got changed, I dont even think there is a way to revert it.

This is a laptop, so I don't have a separate video card. Is there really no way I can switch back to unity 3D ?

Determine your video chipset. There may be a proprietary driver for it that you need to use. Do you remember what you were using before?

What is the output of 'glxinfo | grep -i direct'?

You have the AMD proprietary driver installed (catalyst/fglrx) but you are using a GPU that is not supported but that driver any more (or at least not the version you are using). Remove the driver and reboot, and hopefully 3D acceleration will be available again via the open source driver.
