Unhappy Ubuntu-2 seperate harddrives

So here is my question and Im a newb.

I just built a computer.
I have 2 separate harddrives SATA interface
My windows is on the way ( only because my wife wants it)
I have had alot of trouble with OpenSUSE being unstable so I decided to go back to Ubuntu.

When I loaded Ubuntu on the harddrive just like I used to with my old computer (which already had windows before I put linux on there) I went through the install like everything was fine but when rebooted I got an error saying that "no active partition"

OpenSUSE loaded great because I guess of there auto partitioner in the beginning of install, but I cannot get ubuntu loaded.

I was told to wait until I get windows in before loading windows but I cant wait. Ill delete the linux whenever I get windows in and do it that way but for now I just want ubuntu to load on one of my HD.

My future plans for my harddrives are:

640gig sda
320gig sdb

split the 320 in half and put windows on it and linux and use the 640 for storage for both OS.

Can anyone help?

I few google searches I just did suggest checking the boot order in your bios to make sure the drive is in the list. Also ensure jumper settings are all nice and correct.
