Ubuntu 16.04 setup error preventing me from finishing: guest login only
Completely new to Linux. Have new Intel NUC. Using 43" Visio 4k smart TV as my monitor (HTPC). Was not sure if NUC came preloaded (did come with a USB 3.0 stick that said Ubuntu..I asked them to preload it if they could). I had the tv on but did not see anything when I turned the computer on. I turned off the PC and stuck the USB stick into a USB port and started it up...still nothing. I repeated the aforementioned but then realized the monitor was not on HDMI-5...so I changed it and then saw Ubuntu. Started to go through the setup (with the stick still in the computer...again...not sure if it was prior loaded or not), and came to "location" where Los Angeles was selected. Tried to change to Spokane, WA when an error occurred, and I was informed by Ubuntu that I could only continue as a "guest login." I have since removed the USB stick and tried logging off/turning off the PC...same thing. I can't avoid the "guest" thing to continue with the setup. Looked on many forums and see a lot of issues with Ubuntu getting stuck in the guest login loop. Any ideas appreciated. RobN
