Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

How do I find screensaver options in Ubuntu 11.10?
I've added gnome-screensaver to startup applications (also tried this with XscreenSaver), and once I've logged in, have confirmed that the thing is up and running, 'cos when I invoke the screensaver in a terminal it tells me it is already running.
However, I am completely unable to find where to set my preferences. Had a good dig around for advice and howtos, and there's plenty out there about how to *install* screensavers in 11.10, since they're not there by default. But when it comes to *using* the screensaver, all I seem to get is "Find it in the menus" or "Use Dash to set your preferences" or advice along those lines.
System Tools > System Settings would have seemed the obvious menu to find this, amongst the preferences for screenlock, wallpaper backgrounds etc... but there's no sign.
I'm seriously wondering whether I've done the right thing in upgrading to 11.10 -- it seems to be hard to find *ANY* options for preferences about anything! Why did I install Linux in the first place????!!! Grrrr.
Thanks for suggestions, but still no further forward.
There's no gnome-screensaver-preferences available. Tried re-installing gnome-screensaver through Synaptic, also via apt-get, but still no dice. apt-get gnome-screensaver-preferences doesn't work either.
I'd be perfectly prepared to use xscreensaver instead, but I don't think it offers screen lock. Please correct me if I'm wrong, or are there any other options out there?
