Ubuntu 11.04 Where are the Panels?

I am running Ubuntu 11.04 off of a flash drive.
Where are panels. Right clicking does not bring them up.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm not an Ubuntu connoisseur...but I think this might help:

Best of luck

You're probably running unity, not gnome 2.X.

You should be able to get into gnome 2.X from the login screen.

Thanks, I will try it later in the day.
One thing that I do not understand however.
I never deleted the panel.
I even deleted Ubuntu 11.04 from the flash drive then re-installed it.
Still no panels.
With all previous versions, the panels were always present.
I will hold off installing it on my hard drive until I can figure out what is going on.

11.04 uses unity by default. To get 'classic' gnome 2.X you have select 'classic desktop' at the login screen.

This might help-

http://scottlinux.com/?p=1582

Its a lot easier to see how to change the desktop rather than somebody trying to explain it.

By the way, why are you installing an alpha/beta release anyway? 11.04 is still being tested, you might run into more problems than just unity/gnome 2.X.

Also, 11.10 wont even have the option to run 'classic gnome' without installing gnome 2.X.

Thanks,

I am not as yet installing it. I am running it off of a flash drive to see whether or not I will like it.
