now then here is the situation we dont want to use the samba server as a pdc but we want a password so when we map the drives we have to enter it to access it im just wondering whether it can be done hope this makes sense . we have 5 staff in the office who wants there own share on the server e.g.

mati
michael
pam
lorina
andrew

so i want there to be 5 shares but i want a password so that no one can else can assess them

hope this makes sense

yes but please make backup of your working samba configuration file /etc/samba/smb.conf while testing so, if things messup you can restore previous settings.

system-config-samba is gui tool to manage samba
