Ubuntu 10.10 how to create a text shortcut


Hi

I would like to create a shortcut to my email, so when im loggin in on different homepages, i can just press ex ALT+F1 and my email will be written in the selected area..

is that possible

You can create a shortcut using the command of your browser followed by the website.
Ex.: firefox www.linuxquestions.org

That command should open the browser directly at the desired website. But for the password you can save in in the browser...


By the way, you can use email management softwares like evolution, Thunderbird etc.

Txe que, If I understand correctly what vitorsgoncalves said is not even close to what you want to do.

If I understand you want to create a permanent link between a keyboard shortcut and a particular piece of text, like a permanent clipboard so when you hit ALT+F1 you'll get a piece of text like yournmae@isp.net similar to when you press CTRL+V gives you whatever you had last selected at CTRL+C
