Ubuntu 10.10 blank screen on startup
 

Hello everyone, this is my first post, and I've had Ubuntu Linux (10.10) for maybe a month and a half now. Im very satisfied with the whole system, no problems up until an update about maybe 2 weeks ago from today (rough estimate). Anyways, when I start my computer and choose to start Ubuntu, about half of the time it will load with some weird new login screen (because of update), and their are other times where the screen will go blank. I dont think its very safe to cut the power from the computer through the power button :/

I realize there are other posts regarding this, and I apologize if this is against the rules, I just thought maybe it would be appropriate to start a thread with this problem for 10.10 users.

hello it's better to identify the update you have installed to remove.If the problem still continues go to #ubuntu channel irc.spotchat.org (official discussions for ubuntu).

Do you remember which update it was that started your problem ? Did you use the update manager to download it? and if it was through update manager (if you can remember what number was assigned to it ,1&2 are stable 3 is being tested 4&5) I would NOT install.Any additional information you could supply would get you more help.also what kind of Graphic drivers are you using, sometimes they play havoc with updates and systems as well.By the way This is not against any rules... it is what this forum is for.
