Ubuntu 10.10 64 bit Raid 1... Printing.

I am baffled. I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10/64 bit onto a quad 4 using Raid 1, with Virtual box and Win XP as the guest.
I have the printer working in the host, but cannot get it to work in the guest. I have spent 3 days on and off, reading everything in sight, but I cannot get it working.
I'm obviously missing something! Can someone point out any traps to this installation? Please, pretty please.
