Ubuntu 10.0Deleted Grub

Hi guys,

My pc has partitions:

1=XP
2=7
3=Ubuntu 10.0

I deleted win7 by formating partition#2 and I reinstalled Windows 7. The problem is that now Grub doesn't work. I thought Grub always resides on Partition#1 but I guess I was wrong.
How can I fix Grub?
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

There is a huge amount of information about reinstalling grub on the web. Have you goggled? Have what have you tried so far?

Your MBR may have been overwritten by Windows 7. In which case u have to re-install Ubuntu 10.04. Or try the Live cd of ubuntu 10.04 and see if u can install grub.

Open a terminal
#grub-install /dev/sda

Did you reinstall windows 7 on the same partition?
If so, then the problem is likely that stated above. Any windows installation overwrites the master boot entry without asking or informing the user so you will just need to reinstall Grub.

Open a terminal in Ubuntu and run the command: sudo fdisk -l (lower case Letter L) and check the output to be sure sda2 is an ntfs partition. If you don't understand the output, post it here and someone should be able to help.

I reinstalled Windows 7 on that partition. I thought the Winxp partition would have the MBR.
I ran Ubuntu Live but I didn't see any options to reinstall Grub.
I haven't google anything yet but I will as soon as I get home.
Thanks for your quick response.

if I can't get it resolved, I will just reinstall Ubuntu anyways Ubuntu doesn't take as long as windows for a clean install...
