tyring to install FC2

I have RH9 on my old laptop, but I'm trying to install FC2 via the cd/dvd drive. Do I have to clear the whole hard drive before I install the new OS? I thought that maybe it would just give me the option of overwriting the old RH9.

You can start the install, then when you get to the partitioning part, go in and manually assign the partitions. It will then reformat the partitions.

If you have one, you can leave your /home as it is, without reformatting that one partition, then you can save all your user settings and downloads and files.
