Type Read: Operation Not Permitted Error

Hello again, everybody. I have been trying to install Redhat on my 200MHz Pentium Pro. (I have a lot of old computers...) I ran the installer in graphical mode (Redhat 7.2) and it got to the point where it was formating the /boot filesystem. Then it froze. Finally, it crashed out with a 'Type read: operation not permited' error. I tried again in text mode, same error. I downloaded and burned Redhat 7.3. Same error. I got Redhat 9.0. It worked, but the 200MHz computer wasn't enough to run it very quickly. I would like to know what I can do to fix this problem. I have MaxBlast loaded. Then, I unloaded it and tried to install again. Same error. I'm getting frustrated. I will buy Debian because I heard that it supports older hardware very well. That will be good, consitering that the fastest PC I can load Linux on is a 455MHz. So, any hints for my Redhat problem? Thanks.

You don't need to buy Debian, it's available for free on their download sites.

I don't want to burn 7 cds

Fair enough then :) As for the error message, never heard of it before.

if you have an internet connection, you don't have to burn 7 CDs, just the 1st. the rest are filled with current packages (which you may think are out of date once you install them anyway).

Yes, but this thread is about the error message. Besides, the computer has slow internet.
