What server????? What client????
How do you want to use your server? What are the clients going to request for to the server?
What is the server going to serve for?
How are you connecting them?

You can connect them using a switch and cables. I guess you would not need much for that. Connecting them using switch and giving them correct IP addresses will work for you.
