twisted routing to the default gateway

Hello,

I'll make it as short as possible.
I am using manual configuration. I've got the GATEWAY directive in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 like this:
Code:
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
The problem is that the routing table shows what I'd say is a useless route:
Code:
Destination 192.168.1.1
Gateway 0.0.0.0
Genmask 255.255.255.0
The next route is:
Code:
Destination 0.0.0.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Genmask 0.0.0.0
Which leads me to believe that there's a useless extra network processing whenever it reads the routing table. So what am I doing wrong here?

Are you sure the destination for the "superfluous" route isn't 192.168.1.0? If so, that's the route to your local network, which is required. Can you post the output of "netstat -rn"?

Yes, that's what I was referring to. It was a mistake, after searching for a while on the internet I realised that this is actually a basic routing table.

Thanks anyway. I wanted to delete this post, but I guess cannot
