TuxRacer - whatever happend to them?
 

With my RedHat 9 install, came a game called TuxRacer.
I heard about the game, I really wanted to play it...

I got the latest NVidia Drivers, my Xfree86 is version 4.3 (that's the latest) I have a GeForce2 MX...

Other games work without a problem...
But when I start tuxRacer all I get is a black screen and a message from my monitor: "Input is not supported" :(

I read thru the forums, and try'd everything there... nothing is wrong with my settings...

There is a patch that should fix it, but I can't run it...

I don't know where the install folder is... I made a search...

I found 2 dir':

/usr/share/doc/tuxracer-0.61
/usr/share/tuxracer

Neither of the worked.
I got an error...

And:

Their forums are dead...
The main page hasn't been updated since September 22nd, 2002.

Its sad to find out that this project is dead :(


There is the older open source version of tux: open racer...

I hate Tuxracer.
Why?
cos I can't get past the first level.

It comes with Mandrake 9.1 and seems to work straight out of the box.

I can't even play it!

There is a patch that should fix my problem but it askes in what dir' I got it installed...

And I tried all the dir' I found with a search and the patch just tell's me that its the wrong dir'...

the sad thing is that the project seems to be dead :(

They should at least release the code! :(

Oh, they have a demo as well, and that might run better.

Well.. I see the program is trying to open *tuxracer-bin*, not bin/tuxracer...

try doing a

whereis tuxracer-bin

Jose Muñiz - I tried searching for all files with the name tux. (tux*)
All I found was 2 dir' and some files...

I tried to apply the patch to both of the dir' and the dir' where the other files were... didn't work.

From what I understand the patch is not for the demo version of the game but the full one... :(

I think that sunspirestudios (the guys that made tuxrace) is broke and no more... :(


its sad to see this game go...

how can I get pass the 3 level. It seems to be impossible I try to go without eating the fishes, but even then I don't make it in enough time. Is there any trick, am I the only one?
