Turbo tax and linux

While I am not new to linux, I am definitely a novice.. I am having trouble understanding how I can get turbo tax to work with ubuntu 11.04 I was able without any problems to use it the past two years.. now I cannot get past the page that explains the system requirements. I do not necessarily understand how you can run windows on a linux system.. I have seen a bit of infomation with people using wine to acheive that end.. but it is kind of lost on me... If anyone has any experience with this, it would be appreciated.. Thanks

TurboTax has also an online application that let you do your calculation like if it were installed in your computer but it is actually through the web in their site.

Here is their link http://turbotax.intuit.com/

Good luck to you

It may be possible to install this software in wine.

Wine is a way to sort of cheat a windows application to run in a linux OS.

I have a question however, how did you get it to work the last two years?

Firefox Solution for TuboTax

Hi All,

I found this and work great with turbo Tax.

on FireFox under Linux you can go to "about:config" and search for useragent.
Verify that you don't already have a "general.useragent.override" key.
Create one as a string.
Put the following in:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64; rv:16.0.1) Gecko/20121011 Firefox/16.0.1
Restart FireFox

You do have to change were is says Firefox/16.0.1 to your version for me it was
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; Win64; x64; rv:16.0.1) Gecko/20121011 Firefox/19.0.2
