Tunneling X Over SSH


Hi All,


I want to run an X client or a GUI-based software application on a remote linux server.


How can i do that please anyone can guide me

Try nomachine or freenx. In simple terms, it uses the ssh protocol to tunnel your remote desktop display to you.

nomachine.com and freenx.berlios.de

Or you do it with SSH. You have to enable X forwarding on the SSH daemon on the remote machine and then connect with
Code:
ssh -X
or
Code:
ssh -Y
according to your needs.

For more info about the options have a look at

I followed the command but i got error message

Connection to 192.168.0.5 closed.
cheesewizz-macbook-pro-15:~ cheesewizz$ ssh -X oracle@192.168.0.5
oracle@192.168.0.5's password:
Warning: untrusted X11 forwarding setup failed: xauth key data not generated
Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding.

What does it mean?

Since there is Warning Message i can able to login.

If you use Windows Client, please download MobaXterm It's integrated with X server

$ ssh username@host

and then execute your application, for example gnome-panel

# gnome-panel

Hi Thanks for your reply

Its good for Windows Client Only [I Like]

but I need solutions or tools that can be use in any platform LINUX/MAC/Windows

Right now I am using MacOsx , I used Terminal.
