TTY As Default Environment At Startup Ubuntu 12.10
Good morning, LQ! My question is, how would I go about making the TTY my default environment so that I would have to key in 'startx' to launch X?
Essentially, I do a lot of file work via command line, involving mass transfers over a network, but X takes up quite a bit of system resources. So it would just be nice to not have X start up without being invoked. :) |
Disable or remove the display manager. I'm not sure what Ubuntu uses but I'd guess it's gdm.
