Unhappy Trying to use cut command to limit "excess text" from a file.


The man pages are not helping. Tried varios websites to no avail.

Need a lot more detail. Please give an example of the text before extract and an example of what you want the result to look like.
Also, please add your distro's name & version to your profile for future ref.

WOW, Thats all I can say! What a incredible web site. I am thankfull for all the responsible citizens out there in Linux land. I am a beleiver now. I am 44 yrs old n new to computers. Naturely I got a windows 7 setup but am now Hooked on Linux. Will be converting soon. I will reply when more time. Once again thank-all for the support.
