Exclamation Trying to set up IRC on a Ubuntu/Linux VPS?

I need some help.. I tried looking around online for the answer, but it just does not make any sense to me. I am brand new with.. not just Linux but with anything to do with this type of stuff, so I don't understand the lingo just yet either. I've had servers in the past before, but I just have never set them up on my own before. I always had my admins do it, but now a days they are too busy. Anyways.. I am getting this error message after I try to ./Config

Quote:
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl.exe... no
configure: error: in 'root/Unreal3.2.10.6':
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See 'config.log' for more details
root@vps:~Unreal3.2.10.5#
I am guessing I have no gcc, cc, and cl.exe, and no C compiler in $Path, but I don't know what those things are, or where to get them, or where $PATH is.

Help, please and thank you. <3

Okay, so now IRCd is working.. but now I need to set up services I guess. This is what I have..

Quote:
Anope requires CMake 2.4 or newer, which can be downloaded at Http://cmake.org or through your system's package manager.
If you have installed CMake already, ensure it is in your PATH environment variable.
root@vps:~/anope-2.0.2-source#
I am not sure what that means. I already have CMake as far as I know because I tried downloading that and it says I have it so.. idk.

E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?
I tried running the update/upgrade.. and when I try doing the build-essential or cmake, it's always coming up with missing files and that exact error above.
