Trying to remove linux as the main OS but Disk boot failure

So, I have Unbuntu as the main OS to my computer and i'm trying to remove it to put XP back onto my computer but to no avail, the discs I have burned are all functioning disc on other pc's but refuse to launch on my Unbuntu device telling me: Disk boot Failure please insert system disc. We even tried downgrading unbuntu back to 11.04 no avail disk wont read but reads on another desktop. I don't believe its hardware failure as the tray opens and closes glows. Please give some help.

Do you have a bootable XP install CD? If yes, to boot it, you need to go into the BIOS settings and make your CD/DVD drive the first bootable device, ahead of your HD. When you set that up, any bootable CD should work.

As for removing Ubuntu, the easy way is to delete the partition(s) on the HD, crate new one(s) for XP and format them. Boot your XP install CD, and install.

Getting into the BIOS is done with hot keys. You may need to read the hardware doc for your system to find out what keys to hit, and when to hit them.
