Trying to load Canon iP4700 driver in xubuntu

xubuntu 11.04
Printer setup program couldn't find a driver and asks for a ppd. Downloaded and expanded 3 folders from Canon-asia onto my desktop.
cnijfilter-ip4700series-3.20-1-i386-deb
cnijfilter-ip4700series-3.20-1-i386-rpm
cnijfilter-source-3.20-1
Only the source folder contains a ppd file. Selected it with the printer install program. It seems to accept the ppd but then gives a "missing pstocanonij" filter error. There is a pstocanonij.c file in the source folder but I don't know what to do with it.

Another website claimed success using the rpm files. The rpm folder I have has two rpm files and an install.sh. Can I run the install by typing "sudo ./install.sh" in the terminal and where should the rpm files be located?

For Xubuntu, use the .deb package, the .rpm package is intended for systems that use rpm package manager.

The package manager will correctly locate the files. You do not need to worry about that.

Have a look through this link, it should guide you through the .deb file install.

Many thanks Cliff. That was too easy. Double click the deb files then load the printer.
