trying to install YUM on CentOS

i went here

http://linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/download/2.9/

to download YUM

yum-2.9.3.tar.gz

i read the install file it looked straight foward, just use one command?

but it also said your better off making an RPM. so i guessed maybe theres more to it. i dont know how to make an RPM but i knew there was one i could get at the same place

yum-2.9.3-1.src.rpm

i tried to instal it but i got

Failed to install package : Not a valid RPM file

i dont care which method i use id just like to have it installed. could somebody explain this?

just install the yum rpm's from any official centos mirror and you'll be fine.

CentOS should already have YUM installed since its their default package manager.

Just type the following

It should return an entry..YUM is the package manager for CentOS, to install type the following

# yum install "package name"
