Trying to install Xubutnu desktop on Ubuntu 8.04

I've installed the packages with the Synaptic Package Manager, but when I try to use the xfce session when I log out, a light blue screen loads, but nothing after that. The login screen has the Xubuntu logo, but that's it. Am I doing something wrong? Total n00b here, lol.

Yeah, but I'm almost positive I'm doing something wrong. I have installed everything that says 'xubuntu' in the package manager, but when I try to start an xfce session, nothing happens.

Nevermind, I got it working. After it didn't load the first time, I did a Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and tried another xfce session - loaded normally. Really digging Xubuntu so far.
