Trying to install SUSE 10.1 error kernel panic not syncing

The first error I had was it would not load into the graphics menu because I needed 512 solved that by hitting the shift and going into the non graphically menu then typing Linux

Well I though all was well then i get this error message
kernel panic not syncing

I have windows xp with ntfs on it could be it that i will have to do a clean install on linux

i just want to install this system . arrgggg

I looked on similar threads nothing relates my machine has 900 mhz 256 ram so that should be fine

I doubt it has anything to do with dual booting with Windows XP on it. It's more that something in the SuSE kernel does not like your hardware. That's all I could assume. Try another distro like Ubuntu just to see if you can even boot into Linux.

I was reading that since I have limited Ram I have to do a shift after the boot screen then try again that got me into text mode. But now a different problem it loads and such but
it cannot find the software on the disc .
One thing about Linux it is great to get advise but it is the searching through forums like this and books that is how you learn
