Trying to install Lynx. but am having pronlems


hello everyone.

I install redhat 9 on my pc. I insatlled it without the gnome, kde or any graphicsl interface. i am using just console. i have all 3 original installation disk. i know i have the rpm on disk 2 /redhat/rpms/lynx-2.8.5-11.i386.rpm.
but i can't install it. i do this
cd /mnt/cdrom
cdrom# ls
cdrom -----nothing comes up, i can't se the directories on the cdrom
and if i try getting it from a web site. i dont know how.
i am able to ping yahoo.com so i know that i have connectivity to the outside.
thank you in advance.

You probably have to mount the cdrom before you look into it. Try
Code:
mount /mnt/cdrom
as your first command. If it complains, be sure you're root.

And lynx is not a very good choise for browsing I think links + derectfb would be more suitable. Also you could do some graphical browsing with this without X ( in command line) .

i already mounted the cd.
how can i get links and install it. is their any form of getting it throught the console. i know i could ping the outside (http://www.yahoo.com). so is there any get command or download ?

You need to get links rpm-package and install it as usual.
