Trying to get video and sound with a Knoppix or Dam Small LInux live cd
 

Hello everyone,
I am new to the world of Linux; I am hoping to learn a few things that will aid me on my journey to using this operating system.

As I stated in my subject I'm trying to get the video and sound to work using a Knoppix or Dam Small Linux live cd. My computer is a IBM T23 thinkpad; I am using a NetGear wireless card. When I get on a site that says plug-ins needed or java script needs to be enabled I download missing pug-ins and don't know what to do from there. Can someone help me
out?

Welcome to LQ!

Which kernel and options are you choosing at boot for knoppix? You can do a 'F3' to see the the boot options at the boot: prompt. This will show what's available. Select one of the notebbok/laptop options to see how things will be recognized.
