trying to get cc compiler working(perl 5.10.1)


Im trying to get perl 5-10-1 working.ive downloaded the version and i have an installed version -5.8.8 hat was causing mixed up problems then as i went through the "sh Configure" command i got to the question ---What compiler to use?---
I also downloaded a version of Gcc 4.3.2 and installed it in the same perl _5.10.1 folder
It still refuses to install on the point of the last question,,cannot find compiler--this config program seems to be a bit of a monkey verifying everything as ok then refusing to install-----please any help appreciated

Your question is hard to read and follow..please try to write clearly.

You don't say anything about your version/distro of Linux, but why are you trying to install these things from source? Chances are, you can download and install them through the online repos, with something like "yum install perl".

The GCC and Perl are two different things. You need to install GCC first, and for that, you will NEED an older version of GCC already. Again, the online repos could do this easily. Hard to give more specific help, without having any details. Before you can compile the new Perl, you'll need GCC up and working.

Tbone --help please!

really i am a bit greenbehind the ears but the version of gcc tries -4.3.2. is a feb 2007 release and should be within the perl5-10-1 release date.There seems to be a certain amount of monkey buisness with this sh Config hack program it tells me firstly i can use -h and -o to aid me when it just doesnt respond at all(to suggest or prompt answers)also what other suggestions can i give when it searches for the cc compiler,i have tried "perl"---"gnu"---and gcc" over and over again(it is in fact gcc-4.3.2 i have installed in the same folder!

at a command console type the following
Code:
perl -e 'print "\ntest\n\n";'
If The word "test" is printed to the console then you already have perl installed which is quite likely
