Question Trying to dual boot. Having trouble with Unetbootin

Ok so Im trying to install Ubuntu next to OS X Yosemite on my Macbook Pro. I just tried to install? ubuntu.iso onto my usb flash drive using unetbootin and after I ran it this message came up

"The created USB device will not boot off a Mac. Insert it into a PC, and select the USB boot option in the BIOS boot menu."

I'm not sure why this happened or how to fix it but I don't own a PC so this won't work for me. Can anyone here help me out with this?

I'm not sure what you used but there are three different versions of unetbootin, one for Macs as shown at their site. See the link below. Did you use that? Doesn't seem so based on the message you got. If that's not the problem, maybe someone who actually uses a Mac will post.

Do you get this message while using unetbootin, during or at the completion of the creation of a bootable usb? Or do you get it when you try to boot?

I got the message at the completion of creating the bootable usb. I'm not sure if I read it right, but supposedly mac only makes booting os x an option from usb. Maybe I might have to try to use a dvd. Also I was using usb 3.0. I didnt think that would be an issue but now I'm not sure. If the only difference is in the time it takes to boot, then maybe I just might go with the dvd.
