Unhappy Trying to build dual boot PC. Cannot install Suse 10.0.

I'm a complete newbie - 1st post.

Building dual boot PC. Two Seagate 320GB SATA HDD's. First one has Vista on and is working fine. Installed 2nd today. In BIOS switched primary boot to the new 'clean' HDD. Put Suse Linux 10.0 DVD into DVD ROM. Firstly get message saying I'm about to install 32-bit s/w onto 64-bit pc. Can okay thru this. Next I select 'Installation'. Kernal loads. 'Cannot find installation CD'. Subsequently get 'Unable to mount CD-ROM'.

H/W spec
Gigabyte 965P-DS3P motherboard
GeForce 7600GT GrxCard
Intel Core 2Duo 6300
Samsung CDW/DVD SH-M522C Combi-drive
Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun sound card

I suspect there's an easy way to get the CD/DVD ROM detected, or is the problem that the combi-drive needs a new driver?
Though i've looked and cannot find one for it.

I installed this distro on a really old PC I acquired months ago just to test it out, but with this combi, and it worked fine.

Any advice appreciated - I'm determined to get this going !

Impossible with that kind of hardware. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it's just too new to run Suse 10.0. Suse 10.2 should work but you'll have to pay attention; it probably won't recognize the IDE controller so it will fail to find the cds/dvd if you don't intervene by manually selecting the proper driver during the first stages of the install.
