Trustix's Swup feature

Hello there,

I made my first Trustix installation last night. It was very simple compared to the other installations I've been working on. I need a linux server that has software updating, and preferrably with dependencies. Trustix seemed to fit the bill.

However I'm not exactly sure how it works. Do I need to make settings about a PGP key even if I just want to swup --upgrade?

I was getting errors about a site not having a valid file list. I googled the error and found a post (that was a bit dated) on an archived mailing list that suggested i change the site section of swup.conf.

Here's my current swup.conf -

What changes do I need to make to get this working? Thanks..

Make sure your system time is up to date, otherwise you'll get errors about PGP keys not being valid, signed, etc.

Have you checked your DNS setting?

I'm a newbie 2 Trustix and was trying to
Code:

swup --list-upgrade
and getting the errors:
Code:

Fetching upgrade info 'http://http.trustix.org/pub/trustix/releases/trustix-2.1/i586/trustix/rdfs/latest.rdf'

Download failed for http://http.trustix.org/pub/trustix/...atest.rdf.asc:
<urlopen error (-3, 'Temporary failure in name resolution')>
Skipping 'http://http.trustix.org/pub/trustix/releases/trustix-2.1/i586/trustix/rdfs/latest.rdf'
Fetching upgrade info 'ftp://ftp.trustix.org/pub/trustix/releases/trustix-2.1/i586/trustix/rdfs/latest.rdf'

Download failed for ftp://ftp.trustix.org/pub/trustix/re...atest.rdf.asc:
<urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Skipping 'ftp://ftp.trustix.org/pub/trustix/releases/trustix-2.1/i586/trustix/rdfs/latest.rdf'

No site with valid filelist found.

I was trying to get to the internet via the orange net on a Smoothwall Express v2.0 fixes3 and had the Trustix box's DNS address set to the Smoothwall. Having RTF<Smootwall>M and STF<Smootwall>W, I discovered that Smoothwall did not supply DNS services to the orange net. So I did a
Code:

netconfig
and tried again
magic!
